Welcome back! I’m Emma Orlow. When I first interviewed Green Point Knife Truck founder Ryan White, in 2024, about bringing the craft of mobile knife sharpening—for chefs and home cooks alike—to a new generation, I feared it wouldn’t necessarily translate to dollars. Two years later, I have my answer: White has expanded into a co-op with multiple vehicles, turned down a Restaurant Depot deal, and built a fleet with fellow film-industry alums. How bad news in the film industry was good news for the dull knife industry—that’s what I’m digging into today in a feature behind our paywall.

In this letter: Which decade-old restaurant is quietly exploring a sale, a new Latin American bakery, and rumors swirling about a comeback for Enid’s, the beloved, now-closed Greenpoint spot.

Comings & Goings

Last night was Euphoria’s wedding episode, so, naturally, a promotional cake pop-up was in order. (Photo courtesy of HBO.)

  • HBO tapped Saint Street Cakes to give out mini cakes as part of a Euphoria promotion. Timed to last night’s wedding episode, the cakes took inspiration from the cake on screen. Saint Street is the same Brooklyn bakery that made the cake Olivia Rodrigo smashed on SNL and Suki Waterhouse used to celebrate her album release. In Los Angeles, HBO hosted a companion event at Sweet Lady Jane bakery.

  • D.C.’s Cafe Milano became a makeshift newsroom after the shooting at the Correspondents’ Dinner. As Semafor wrote: “Cafe Milano typically plays host on WHCD night to a mix of those unable to score seats at the main event and jaded veterans who’d rather have veal Milanese than the Hilton ballroom’s rubber chicken. Normally, the room hums with diners smugly insisting the dinner itself is not fun. This year, the smugness turned quickly to concern.”

  • A once-Michelin-starred East Village Thai restaurant is exploring a sale…
