Emma Orlow

Emma Orlow is a founding journalist at Caper and a longtime chronicler of New York’s restaurant scene.

Formerly an editor at Eater, Orlow has written for The New York Times, New York Magazine, Vogue, Bon Appétit, and many others. She’s covered restaurant openings and closings, real estate and community board gossip, chef shuffles, industry trends, and more, and gravitates towards eccentric characters, overlooked places, and obsessive niches. Born and raised in New York City, Orlow approaches restaurant reporting as a way of archiving the city itself. She is currently working on a book about Manhattan diners to be published in 2026. Send her a tip: [email protected].
