Annie Armstrong here. Last night, I went to see the British band Dry Cleaning at Brooklyn Steel. I think they may be the first post-punk band to ever write a full song addressing the dangers of microwaving leftovers in black plastic containers. “Heating it up increases the likelihood/That the chemicals inside will leach into your food” singer Florence Shaw deadpans in their song “Evil Evil Idiot.” Will this influence how I store my leftovers from Cozy Royale, where I dined before the show? Maybe! That’s the power of good music.
